CURRICULUM

Throughout the curriculum, students are encouraged to develop healthy self-esteem, set goals and accomplish them. While all of the classes and curriculum are based upon standards of conduct consistent with the Christian faith, many also incorporate instruction, skills and tools consistent with research and secular models of recovery support and relapse prevention.

  • ATTITUDES —Attitudes towards others, developing new attitudes and outlooks, changing unhealthy thoughts and behavior, responsibility for personal attitudes, how personal behavior effects others, how to live in an attitude of love.

 

  • TEMPTATION — Coping with temptation, recognizing and identifying behavior options, goal setting, avoiding high risk enviroments and situations, consistency, commitment, risk factors for temptation, evaluating failure, planning for the future.

 

  • SUCCESSFUL CHRISTIAN LIVING — Managing and changing attitudes and behavior, changing harmful perceptions, understanding, responding and choosing methods of conduct, goal setting.

 

  • GROWING THROUGH FAILURE — Failure and temptation, overcoming past failures and new temptations, responding to failure, outlooks on failure, individual responsibility as a result of failure.

 

  • CHRISTIAN PRACTICES  — Choices and behavior, community membership, discipline and management of personal resources, taking care of the body.

 

  • OBEDIENCE TO GOD  — Accountability, relationships with others, how good choices produce good outcomes, effects of personal behavior.

 

  • OBEDIENCE TO MAN  — Character development, respect for the law and authority, discipline, intentions and motives, conflict resolution, anger management.

 

  • ANGER AND PERSONAL RIGHTS  — Anger management, how not to harm others through anger, conflict resolution.

 

  • HOW TO STUDY THE BIBLE  — Spiritual instruction, community membership, asking for help from God and others.

 

  • HOW CAN I KNOW THAT I AM A CHRISTIAN?  — Spiritual instruction, commitment, emotional development, sharing with others.

 

  • LOVE AND ACCEPTING MYSELF  — Self-esteem, individual gifts and talents, how to show love, boundaries, goal setting, personal development.

 

  • PERSONAL RELATIONSHIPS WITH OTHERS  — How to be a good friend, healthy intimate relationships, how to prepare for a successful marriage, family reunification.

 

  • SPIRITUAL POWER AND THE SUPERNATURAL  — Faith, belief, trust, evaluating and integrating commitment, planning for the future, learning from personal difficulties, finding purpose and meaning.
