OUR HISTORY

In 1978, Adult & Teen Challenge MidSouth was birthed in Chattanooga. For more than 40 years it has been involved in meeting the needs of those bound by “life-controlling addictions.” Our organization has grown from its humble beginnings in a small home on Willow Street serving only 6 men, to its present location of 7 acres at the foot of Lookout Mountain. Our facilities have capacity to house over 100 men and women. This is a 12-month residential program for both men and women. (18+)

We have remained unwavering and dedicated to a program that has not only impacted the lives of over 3000 men and women who have entered our residential program, but we have seen literally thousands of others turn their lives around through our outreaches and how the students impact their own family; it becomes a ripple effect.

In 1968, research conducted by the Department of Health, Education and Welfare validated 86 % of Teen Challenge graduates stated that they were drug free 7 years after graduation. Another  1999 study conducted at Northwestern University in Illinois revealed that a phenomenal 86 % of Teen Challenge graduates remained drug free. What’s more incredible is 90 % of Teen Challenge graduates were found to be gainfully employed two years later as compared to 41 % from other programs studied.

Why the success? We apply spiritually motivated and Biblical Christian principles to drug addicts, alcoholics, gang members, victims of abuse, dysfunctional family members and watch the love of Christ transform their lives into emotionally balanced, mentally sound, physically well and spiritually alive productive citizens.
